Bridging Mobile & Desktop: Redesigning Whistle’s Selling Experience for Increased Conversions
Whistle, a leading resale platform for electronics, relied heavily on its mobile app. However, during COVID-19, desktop usage surged as users preferred larger screens for product listings and transactions.
The Challenge
- ❌ The desktop experience lacked a direct selling flow, forcing users to download the mobile app.
- ❌ Lost conversions as users abandoned the process when redirected to a mobile device.
- ❌ No optimised checkout flow due to the lack of a dedicated desktop checkout led to low completion rates.
As the main product designer, I adapted Whistle’s mobile-first experience into a seamless desktop selling flow, ensuring feature parity and frictionless user engagement

My Solution
- ✅ Adapt the mobile flow for desktop to provide a fluid experience.
- ✅ Enable users to sell their old device on desktop.
- ✅ Convert otherwise lost desktop traffic to convert into registered users.

Learnings & Next Steps
- Users expect seamless multi-device experiences
- Pricing transparency improves conversions
- Progressive disclosure minimises errors
